Cherry BBQ Meatballs


  • 4 slices thick sliced bacon, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbs. garlic, finely minced
  • 2 lbs. lean ground pork
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/3 cup Brownwood Farms Cherry Barbeque Sauce (Add to Cart)
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbs. cream or half and half
  • 1 whole egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Additional Brownwood Farms Cherry Barbeque Sauce (Add to Cart) to add just before serving



  1. Saute the finely chopped bacon in a small saute pan over medium heat.
  2. When the bacon is about half cooked, add the onions and garlic and continue to saute until bacon is cooked and onions are transparent.
  3. Drain any excess grease from the bacon.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the remaining ingredients and mix slightly.
  6. Add the cooked bacon, onion and garlic from the saute pan; mix thoroughly.
  7. Portion meatballs by using a slightly rounded tablespoon of the mixture for each meatball.  Round each meatball.  Meatballs should be firm, but not tightly packed.
  8. Place the meatballs on a greased, rimmed cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes or until cooked through.
  9. Remove the meatballs and place in a mixing bowl.  Add  Brownwood Farms Cherry Barbeque Sauce (Add to Cart) to taste.  Mix gently and transfer to a serving platter or bowl.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
